Ramsey Award for Lifetime Achievement

Jeff Wells, State of Tennessee, honoring the legacy of his inspirational and foundational leadership in historical administration, preservation, and interpretation in Tennessee State Parks and beyond. Jeff hales from West Tennessee but made his mark in East Tennessee during his time as park manager at Fort Loudoun State Historic Site. In 2012, Jeff won the ETHS Professional Achievement Award for his work at Fort Loudoun, recognizing his “commitment to excellence in the fields of historical interpretation, living history, and education.” Jeff’s strengths were recognized by Tennessee State Parks, and he was promoted to Director of Interpretation for the department, a position that allowed him to set an exceptional standard for methods, training, staffing, and funding for cultural and historical interpretation across the state. During his career, Jeff served organizations such as ETHS, Humanities Tennessee, the Tennessee Historical Commissions’ Tennessee Great War Commission, Tennessee Association of Museums, and was a founding member of the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball.
