Tennessee Women Project, Knox County/Statewide

2014 Award of Distinction

A significant contribution to Tennessee women’s history, Tennessee Women of Vision and Courage features the profiles of twenty historic women, all written and researched by contemporary Tennessee women, and edited by Charlotte Crawford  and Ruth Johnson Smiley.  Subjects were chosen based on life influence, eras, geographic location, ethnicity, and vocation.  Organizations across the state are supporting the TWP’s goal to place books in all middle and high schools in Tennessee, with books for Knox County schools and public libraries purchased by Commissioner Amy Broyles.  Charlotte Crawford and Ruth Johnson Smiley were present at the Awards Dinner and accepted the award.
